Rockstart - New Energy Challenge

Together with Shell, Rockstart organized the yearly New Energy Challenge. This year the startup Simreka participated. To provide good coaching during this challenge, I was Simreka's dedicated Startup Mentor for the duration of the contest.

Situation

For the Rockstart/Shell New Energy Challenge 2020, five selected startups competed to win potential business from Shell. One of these startups was Simreka, an AI-focused startup tackling issues in chemical process engineering. Within the challenge, these startups received coaching, where I, as a Rockstart Startup Mentor, came in.

Service

Simreka received coaching to take their pitch and proposition to the next level in a series of remote meetings. In several sessions, we walked through every aspect of their pitch and the specific service Simreka is offering, tailored to the needs of Shell.

Execution

The interaction with Simreka has been pleasant, and for a few of the challenge milestones, we scheduled meetings in advance. Next to that, when something came up, I was just a phone call away for a consult.

Results

Overall, Shell got a dramatically enhanced story from Simreka. Simreka focused their message on what Shell needed to hear, keeping it concise and easy to understand. AI can be a complicated topic, but concentrating on what is in it for your customer can help a lot!
